Visiting the Seven Kingdoms!

As you've probably guessed Dr. Nice and I are big Game of Thrones fans! During this amazing TV series we've spent a lot of time thinking about how we can enhance our love for the TV Series. We aren't keen on spoilers so we didnt want to read all the books (I've just finished Book 3: The Storm of Swords) so instead we decided that over the next few years, instead of taking a relaxing holiday by a pool or a beach somewhere, we would invest our holiday funds to visit the Seven Kingdoms.

In this weekly blog I hope to share some of those experiences with you and if you're interested maybe help you plan your own trip to Westeros and beyond! I've already helped one of my friends enjoy a trip to King's Landing and Qarth! If you don't want to go anywhere then just sit back, relax and enjoy!

We started our quest in May 2014 (a quest seems like a perfect word for a Game of Thrones trip!) searching for the sunnier parts of the seven kingdoms. We decided to go to the beautiful country of Croatia, to the City of Dubrovnik on the Adriatic Sea. It's stunning beauty and walled City made it perfect to pose as King's Landing.

Earlier this year we decided to go to Belfast, where they film the majority of the show. As soon as you get to the countryside, you are in the North of Westeros, with the greens and browns of the fields, the size of the haunted forests, all the way to the beautiful coastline to the North of Northern Ireland.

Next year the plan is to voyage even further North to the snow swept country of Iceland, or as I like to refer to it, beyond the wall! I'm hoping to visit the fist of the first men and where the Wildlings camped.

Then as the last location for now, we hope to go to Seville to see where they are filming Dorne in Season 5. We may also stop off to Malta where they filmed a lot of Season 1 before going to Croatia in Season 2. Anyway thats the plan, and I'll bring you the first 2 locations in my blog, shortly and update it as our quest unfolds!!
